The department is saddle with the responsibility of managing patient health record in various units of the department and other clinical department as it concerns Healthcare delivery. The department is the first point of call at the hospital.
THE DEPARTMENT HAS VARIOUS OPERATIONAL UNIT SUCH AS:
A&E & SPOD Trauma, A&E and SOPD spine NHIA, O&G, Radiology, record library, statistic, maxillofacial (MFU) admission and discharge ward secretaries, intramural, master patient index (MPI) centra pool, physiotherapy, total quality control, coding and indexing
PERFORMANCES:
According to the ethics of the health information management our function are as follows:
Reception of all the patient for registration and documentation at the different points of service in the hospital e.g. A&E, SOPD, NHIA, O&G Radiology, Physiotherapy and MFU.
Proper management of all the consultative clinic attendance.
The department ensures quality assurance of patient health information.
Compilation of clinical data on daily, weekly, monthly, quarterly, biannually and annually.
The department assist in clinical research education and training.
The department always receives and trained Health information and statistic student from various institutions.
The department ensures confidentiality of patient records as well as preserve patient information.
The department provides and release patient health information on medico-legal when the need arises on the management request.
FUTURE PLAN AND DEVELOPMENT
The successful adoption of these technologies depends on the proficiency of the staff continuous Professional development program necessary to equip health information management staff with the skills required to manage and utilize the HER systems, effectively. The training initiations should focus on health information, data analytics to ensure a competent and adaptable workforce.
