ABOUT THE DEPARTMENT
Medical Social Work is a branch of social work, practiced in a hospital setting to help in solving the various social and psychological problems of patients in order to alleviate patients' distress while receiving treatment. This is due to the fact that rehabilitation is an integral aspect of Medical Social Work.
The services rendered by the department include the following: -
- Professional counseling for psychological depressed patients.
- Monitoring patients’ welfare to ensure stress-free treatment.
- Soliciting financial assistance for indigent patients.
- Identifying societal resource systems for patients’ benefits.
- Repatriating abandoned patients.
- Home visits and follow-up to special cases.
The department welcomes blood donations from individuals and financial donations from philanthropic persons and organizations for the care of needy patients.
STAFF STRENGTH
The department had (7) members of staff during the year. Out of this,(5) five were medical social workers while remaining were supporting staff.
